“A Meal of Sharing” Reaches 300 Million Won... LG Electronics Employees Volunteer for Chuseok

[Financial News] LG Electronics employees visited a welfare facility for people with disabilities ahead of Chuseok to share warmth and give back.
LG Electronics said on the 17th that its Life’s Good Volunteer Corps, formed through the voluntary participation of employees, visited the Yeomni Day Care Center for People with Disabilities in Seoul’s Mapo District on the 15th. They prepared Chuseok food by making songpyeon and jeon with people with disabilities who use the center. They also gave them pre-prepared rice cakes and spent meaningful time playing yut nori, a traditional Korean board game. 
The Yeomni Day Care Center for People with Disabilities is affiliated with Korea Welfare Services (KWS) and serves people with severe disabilities caused by brain lesions. Since 2014, LG Electronics’ Life’s Good Volunteer Corps has worked with KWS on various activities supporting neighbors in need.
The latest activity was funded by donations from LG Electronics’ employee cafeteria donation-menu program. Under the program, LG Electronics offers cafeteria meals with fewer side dishes than regular menus and sets aside the equivalent value of the reduced side dishes as donations. Launched in 2011, the program has accumulated donations totaling 300 million won to date.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics operates a weekday volunteer leave program, allowing employees to take up to eight hours of leave each year to encourage volunteer work. Since the program was first introduced in 2013, LG Electronics employees have used more than 40,000 hours of weekday volunteer leave.
