Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority Steps Up Efforts to Attract Investment from Global Materials, Parts and Equipment Companies

[Financial News] The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority announced on the 17th that it participated in the 2026 Materials, Parts and Equipment Global Investment Conference (MPE GIC), held at LOTTE HOTEL WORLD in Seoul that day, and conducted investment-attraction activities targeting domestic and international materials, parts and equipment companies. 
Hosted by the Ministry of Trade and Industry and organized by the Korea Materials, Parts and Equipment Investment Institutions Council (KITIA), the event brought together about 100 promising companies and investment institutions from Korea and abroad. The program featured seminars on the global investment environment and policies supporting foreign investment, as well as one-on-one investment and cooperation consultations between overseas and domestic companies.
In a presentation that day, the authority introduced the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone's investment environment for advanced industries and its corporate support programs. It focused on the zone's global logistics competitiveness centered on Busan Newport, the manufacturing base of Busan and South Gyeongsang Province, and major investment support programs available to companies, including foreign-investment zones, free economic zone incentives and Opportunity Development Zones.
The authority also emphasized that the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone is growing into an advanced-industry investment hub linking logistics, manufacturing and research and development (R&D). It presented plans to attract materials, parts and equipment companies connected to strategic industries such as future mobility and advanced materials.
Through networking with participating companies and investment institutions, the authority began identifying potential investors. It plans to continue follow-up investment-attraction efforts, including individual consultations and on-site visits for interested companies.
Park Seong-ho, head of the authority, said, "The materials, parts and equipment industry is a key foundation underpinning the competitiveness of advanced industries and regional manufacturing. We will continue expanding our cooperation network with domestic and international companies and investment institutions so that the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone can grow beyond logistics and manufacturing into a global investment hub encompassing advanced materials, parts and equipment and future industries."
