Incheon Metropolitan City Government to Resume Incheon e-Eum Cashback Early on Sept. 18; Limit Raised to KRW 1 Million and Cashback to 10% Ahead of Chuseok

【Financial News Incheon = Reporter Han Gap-su】 Incheon Metropolitan City Government will resume cashback for its local love gift certificate, Incheon e-Eum, on Sept. 18—three days earlier than originally planned—ahead of Chuseok.
Incheon Metropolitan City Government announced on Sept. 17 that it will offer Incheon e-Eum cashback starting Sept. 18 to ease residents’ financial burden during the Chuseok shopping season and support struggling neighborhood businesses. The program was originally scheduled to resume on Sept. 21.
The city decided to launch the program early by using KRW 13.4 billion in national funding for local love gift certificates that it secured additionally on Aug. 31.
Accordingly, from Sept. 18 through Sept. 30, the monthly payment limit for Incheon e-Eum will be doubled from KRW 500,000 to KRW 1 million, with 10% of the payment amount returned as cashback. Ganghwa County and Ongjin County will offer a 15% cashback rate.
From October through the end of the year, the monthly payment limit will remain at KRW 500,000, with cashback maintained at 10%. An additional 5% will be provided for purchases made at Good Price Businesses.
The range of simple payment services will also expand. Kakao Pay and Naver Pay will be added to the existing Samsung Pay and KB Pay, making the service more convenient to use.
Incheon e-Eum is a local love gift certificate whose cumulative payment volume has surpassed KRW 24 trillion. It is being used to stimulate the local economy by channeling spending in the region into sales for small business owners and self-employed operators.
Incheon Mayor Park Chan-dae said, "We will continue to manage Incheon e-Eum so that it never comes to a halt, while actively working to revitalize the local economy and safeguard people’s livelihoods."
