[Financial News] Global AI audio company ElevenLabs has partnered with Universal Music Group (UMG), a global leader in music entertainment, to launch a new AI-powered music platform for fans. The companies will develop a new AI music creation platform based on officially licensed recordings and artist participation.
According to industry sources on the 17th, ElevenLabs and UMG signed a multiyear licensing agreement and broad strategic partnership to jointly develop AI audio products for artists and songwriters.
The partnership is ElevenLabs’ first agreement with a major record label. It goes beyond a simple alliance, encompassing both a licensing partnership and comprehensive product co-development. The agreement reflects the companies’ shared belief that AI-powered music innovation must be built responsibly, respect human artistry, and allow artists and songwriters to share fairly in the value created.
The new platform currently under development is expected to give fans new opportunities to co-create using music by participating artists and songwriters. They will be able to make remixes and mashups, reinterpret songs, and enjoy personalized vocal experiences. The agreement also includes plans to continuously develop additional products and fan experiences over the coming months and years.
The new platform will operate as an independent service separate from ElevenLabs’ existing music product lineup.
Mati Staniszewski, co-founder and CEO of ElevenLabs, said, "AI opens up incredible possibilities for how we connect and interact with the music and artists we love." He added, "By combining UMG’s global community and expertise in copyright management with ElevenLabs’ AI models and product capabilities, we will not only help artists and songwriters deliver powerful new experiences to fans, but also ensure they receive fair compensation."
