[Financial News] Reorders for the three types of ibuprofen-based cold medicines introduced by Hanmi Pharmaceutical last year are continuing, mainly at pharmacies.
Hanmi Pharmaceutical announced on the 17th that its over-the-counter drugs 'Maxibufen Cold Soft Capsules,' 'Maxibufen Cough Soft Capsules,' and 'Maxibufen Nose Soft Capsules,' which were launched last November, are being sold in pharmacies.
The Maxibufen Soft Capsules series is a comprehensive cold medicine with ibuprofen as its main ingredient. The products are divided by symptoms, including 'Maxibufen Cold' for general cold symptoms, 'Maxibufen Cough' for sore throat, and 'Maxibufen Nose' for nasal congestion and runny nose.
Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that provides antipyretic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory effects. It is used to relieve pain and inflammation, such as sore throat and muscle aches that may accompany a cold.
The products feature a soft capsule formulation. Hanmi Pharmaceutical explained that it enhanced the convenience of medication guidance by designing the packaging so pharmacies can distinguish the products according to symptoms.
According to Hanmi Pharmaceutical, sales through pharmacies are expanding as repeat orders continue following the initial orders. The company believes that factors such as the ibuprofen-based product lineup and segmentation by symptoms have influenced the sales trend.
"Maxibufen Soft Capsules is a product line segmented to allow consumers to choose according to their cold symptoms," a Hanmi Pharmaceutical official said. "We will continue expanding our cold medicine portfolio by reflecting demand from pharmacies and consumers."
The three types of Maxibufen Soft Capsules are supplied to pharmacies nationwide through Onlinepharm Co., Ltd., an affiliate of Hanmi Science Co., Ltd. They are over-the-counter drugs that can be purchased without a prescription.
