"Citizens Who Are Entirely Happy"... Daejeon Metropolitan City Proclaims Vision for Its 9th Elected Administration

Daejeon Metropolitan City announced that it held the 'Vision Proclamation Ceremony for the 9th Elected Administration' at the city hall grand auditorium on the 17th, attended by approximately 500 people, including Daejeon Mayor Heo Tae-jeong, citizens, Daejeon Metropolitan Council members, and public officials. The event was organized to share the direction of municipal administration, "Daejeon for All of Us, Citizens Who Are Entirely Happy," with citizens and to solidify their commitment to putting it into practice.
In the first part of the proclamation ceremony, Mayor Heo Tae-jeong personally announced the vision for the 9th elected administration. Mayor Heo Tae-jeong presented future growth, recovery of people's livelihoods, and citizen sovereignty as the three core values and unveiled 10 municipal strategies to support them.
The key strategies include future strategic industries completed through an AI transformation, the establishment of a hub for advanced technology commercialization and startups, the realization of a carbon-neutral city in response to the climate crisis, the creation of a dense and robust people's economy, the development of convenient living conditions for everyone, the creation of a city enriched by culture and the arts in everyday life, the strengthening of user-tailored sports infrastructure, the realization of a city of citizen sovereignty through participation and respect, the guarantee of the right to pursue happiness throughout every stage of life, and safe, convenient, citizen-centered administrative innovation.
In the second part, a citizen representative and Mayor Heo Tae-jeong jointly read the vision declaration and presented a performance embodying the three core values. Daejeon Metropolitan City plans to actively pursue 77 pledges and more than 20 key tasks based on the 10 strategies.
Mayor Heo Tae-jeong said, "Even amid difficult fiscal conditions, we will continue to make investments in people's livelihoods and the future without wavering," adding, "We will swiftly deliver effective administration that citizens can feel in their daily lives."
Daejeon Metropolitan City plans to firmly support the vision of its 9th elected administration by substantively implementing 77 pledges and more than 20 key tasks based on the three core values and 10 strategies.
Meanwhile, the proclamation of the vision for the 9th elected administration is seen as a declaration of Daejeon Metropolitan City's intention to make a fresh leap forward as a "global hub for commercializing cutting-edge technologies," moving beyond its identity as a science city. The plan aims to build on achievements previously focused on research infrastructure by attracting AI and future new-industry companies, creating high-quality jobs, and translating these efforts into tangible regional economic vitality that can stem the outflow of young people.
