[Financial News] NCsoft is targeting global players by showcasing its new role-playing game (RPG), ‘Astrae Oratio (Asora),’ for the first time at Tokyo Game Show 2026.
NCsoft announced on the 17th that it participated in Tokyo Game Show 2026, operated a dedicated Asora booth, and held the game’s first public playable demo. Asora is a “new-generation magic RPG” published by NCsoft and developed by Dynamis One.
Set in a world where reality and magic coexist, the game casts players as a “Chief,” a civil servant at the Special District Office, an institution responsible for administering wizards. Players encounter various characters and events throughout the city.
For the exhibition, NCsoft created a dedicated booth modeled after the Special District Office, one of the game’s key locations. Visitors can experience the scenario and battle modes. The booth stage is also hosting a “scenario screening” featuring the early part of the game’s story, using Tokyo Tower and a large light-emitting diode (LED) screen. Another exhibition area uses Samsung Electronics’ glasses-free three-dimensional (3D) monitor, Spatial Signage, allowing visitors to experience the game’s characters in 3D.
NCsoft also held a “media preview” event and unveiled key features and the development direction of Asora. Game Director Jong-gyu Lim and Art Director In Kim attended and explained that development has focused on naturally connecting the game’s core content—combat and story. Lim said, “We will bring the story, art, combat, and other gameplay elements together into one complete game, then expand it through live services. Starting with the first playable demo at Tokyo Game Show, we hope you will watch the game grow like a serialized story through new narratives and characters.”
Following Tokyo Game Show, NCsoft plans to conduct a global closed beta test (CBT). The company aims to improve the game’s quality by incorporating feedback gathered from players at the event into development.
