KORAIL Holds “Let’s Meet Now” Event to Mark High-Speed Rail Integration

[Financial News] Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) will hold a customer appreciation event at major stations nationwide and online, allowing passengers to participate directly, to mark the integration of the country’s high-speed rail system.
KORAIL announced on the 17th that it will hold “Let’s Meet Now,” an experiential event celebrating “A New Beginning for a Unified High-Speed Rail System,” at four major KTX stations nationwide—Seoul Station, Suseo Station, Gwangju Songjeong Station and Busan Station—on the 18th. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. that day.
The on-site event will feature an intuitive, game-style challenge program. Two participants will start at opposite ends of a digital touch-panel board and draw a straight line within the time limit to complete a single railway track. Those who succeed will receive souvenirs.
The online event will continue for one month through social media. Participants can create a video of two people connecting a single straight line using a sketchbook, tablet or other device, then post it on their personal social media account with the required hashtags (#KORAIL, #HighSpeedRailIntegration, #OneTouchRailChallenge and #Let’sMeetNow). KORAIL will select winners by lottery and award various prizes, including Apple AirPods Max 2 and an instax mini photo printer.
Lee Jong-heum, head of KORAIL’s Public Relations and Culture Office, said, “We organized this event to share the historic milestone of integrating Korea’s high-speed rail system with passengers in an enjoyable way. We hope many people will show interest and participate.”
Meanwhile, the event is expected to go beyond a simple marketing campaign and serve as an opportunity to inform the public that Korea’s high-speed rail system, previously operated separately through KTX and the Super Rapid Train (SRT), has been integrated into one system. It is expected to ease passenger inconveniences caused by difficulties with cross-ticketing and the separation of routes by station, while also generating a chain of service improvements, such as the introduction of new routes through reduced duplicated operating costs.
