Yeosu has designated 88 'honbap restaurants' where people can dine alone comfortably. To encourage their use, the city will provide citizens and tourists with experience subsidies of up to 10,000 won per person.
A Yeosu official said, "We hope you will visit Yeosu, enjoy the '2026 World Island Exhibition Yeosu Korea,' and have a meaningful time experiencing Yeosu's flavors and hospitality at 'honbap restaurants' throughout the city."
To receive the 'honbap restaurant' experience subsidy, applicants must use a 'honbap restaurant' designated by Yeosu, post a photo of the food and a review on their personal social media account, and then submit an application.
Meanwhile, Yeosu is attaching signs and posters welcoming solo diners at designated 'honbap restaurants' so that customers can easily identify them. The city is also providing single-person tableware and tables to help create an atmosphere that welcomes customers visiting alone.
