Korea National Railway exchanges with 9 institutions in 8 countries, expanding K-Rail's overseas expansion

[Financial News] Korea National Railway discussed cooperation plans for railway and transportation infrastructure with nine organizations from eight countries.
Korea National Railway announced on the 17th that it expanded its cooperation base with overseas clients by participating in the 'Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference (GICC) 2026,' held at the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul, from the 15th to the 17th.
GICC is an international event organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and the International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK), where key figures such as ministers, vice ministers, and CEOs from major overseas clients, along with relevant domestic institutions and companies, participate to seek to strengthen cooperation in global infrastructure projects.
Korea National Railway, which hosted the transportation cooperation seminar at the event, introduced its experience with the Korean-style Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) model, which links railways with urban development.
At the event, Korea National Railway signed a business agreement with Tajikistan Railways and met with high-ranking officials from Laos and Panama to explore the possibility of participating in local railway projects.
It was agreed to cooperate with Tajikistan Railways on railway project consulting, technology and information exchange, professional training, and the operation of working-level consultative bodies. Following the signing of an agreement with the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan in 2022, Korea National Railway has expanded its scope of cooperation to include the local railway corporation.
During meetings with the Minister of Public Works and Transport of Laos and the Director General of the National Railways Office of Panama, local railway and transport infrastructure development plans and the progress of major projects were shared. Based on the results of these consultations, Korea National Railway plans to identify promising projects and support the overseas expansion of domestic companies.
Jeong Jin-hyeok, President of Korea National Railway, said, "We will do our best to solidify trust with major clients and ensure that K-Rail's excellent technology and experience lead to more opportunities in overseas markets."
