[Financial News] Bitcoin is holding around $76,000 despite the Federal Reserve System (Fed)’s policy rate hike.
According to global digital-asset information platform CoinMarketCap on the 17th, Bitcoin was trading around $76,000 as of 10:20 a.m., up 0.62% from the previous day on a 24-hour basis. Bitcoin has fallen 2.52% over the past week.
Bitcoin was trading around 105 million won in the Korean won market. The Korea premium stood at -0.25%, according to Cryprice, a global platform that compares digital-asset market conditions.
After its regular meeting on the 16th local time, the Fed raised its policy-rate target range by 0.25 percentage points, from 3.50–3.75% to 3.75–4.00%. This was the first rate hike in three years and two months, since July 2023. The Fed also set the median policy-rate projection at 4.1%, signaling one additional hike this year.
However, the impact appears limited. Since the decision had already been anticipated, the market is focusing less on this hike than on the future direction of digital-asset regulations. Bitcoin had already declined once the previous day after the U.S. Senate rejected the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act of 2025 (CLARITY Act of 2025), a U.S. digital-asset regulation bill. Some analysts also said that passage of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act by the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee recently helped limit the decline.
CoinMarketCap’s “Crypto Fear & Greed Index” stood at 63 on the day, indicating “greed.” The index ranges from 0 to 100: readings closer to 0 indicate “extreme fear,” while those closer to 100 indicate “extreme greed.”
At the same time, Ethereum was trading around $2,417, up 0.76% from the previous day. Ripple (XRP) was trading around $1.29, up 0.40%.
