Second Anniversary of Sejong Joint Campus: Expansion of Joint Education and Industry–Academia–Research Cooperation

[Financial News] Sejong Joint Campus is expanding joint education and industry–academia–research cooperation among its resident universities to mark the second anniversary of its opening. In particular, it plans to promote the joint use of specialized experimental facilities in the biotechnology field and strengthen links between interdisciplinary research and startups in AI and policy.
The National Agency for Administrative City Construction said on the 17th that it discussed development plans with representatives of the resident universities and the operating corporation at a meeting held on the 16th at Sejong Joint Campus to mark its second anniversary.
The meeting focused on joint curricula, the activation of the industry–academia–research cluster, and plans for operating the Bio Support Center.
The resident universities considered sharing personnel and facilities, as well as offering joint liberal arts courses and extracurricular programs. They also discussed ways to promote credit exchanges among the universities.
The industry–academia–research cluster will focus on AI, biotechnology, and policy. Through cooperation among universities, companies, and research institutions, it plans to identify internships, startup and investment opportunities, and interdisciplinary research projects.
The Bio Support Center will house specialized experimental facilities, including an animal laboratory and a preclinical center. These facilities are expected to be jointly used by resident universities, including Chungnam National University’s College of Medicine and Chungbuk National University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, as well as external institutions.
Five universities currently have campuses at Sejong Joint Campus, with 878 enrolled students.
Choi Hyung-wook, deputy head of the National Agency for Administrative City Construction, said, "We will actively support the joint campus so that it can establish itself as an innovative model for educational and research cooperation among universities by continuously communicating and cooperating with members of the resident universities."
