Samsung E&A Unveils Solution to Cut LNG Liquefaction Plant Construction Time by 20%

[Financial News] Samsung E&A is accelerating its push into the LNG liquefaction plant market by unveiling for the first time a modular package specialized for liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant construction.
Samsung E&A announced on the 17th that it had unveiled the "LNG Module Package" at Gastech, held in Bangkok, Thailand, on the 16th. The package is designed to speed up LNG liquefaction plant construction.
The package is a solution that modularizes the key processes of an LNG liquefaction plant and provides them in a packaged format. It is optimized for small- and medium-sized LNG projects and combines Honeywell Technologies' single mixed refrigerant liquefaction technology with Samsung E&A's modular execution capabilities.
By designing and modularizing key processes in advance, the solution can shorten the execution period from the initial project development stage through engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC). The company said it can reduce the overall project schedule by about 20%.
The modular construction method involves prefabricating key equipment at factories or fabrication yards and assembling it on site. Its advantages include reduced on-site work and improved quality and schedule management. Samsung E&A applied its modular execution experience, accumulated through numerous projects, to the package.
Samsung E&A plans to use the package to target growing demand for modularization, particularly in small- and medium-sized LNG liquefaction plants. Using a pre-engineered package allows the company to quickly present clients with specific technical and business information from the early stages of a project, helping accelerate their decision-making. The strategy is to use the package to establish early engagement with clients and ultimately strengthen the company's competitiveness in winning EPC contracts.
LNG produces relatively lower carbon emissions than conventional fossil fuels such as coal, making it a "bridge energy" source during the energy transition. Demand for LNG production facilities is expected to remain steady as rising power demand coincides with efforts to strengthen energy security.
