Nara Space Signs Satellite Data Supply Agreement with Kazakh State Space Corporation

[Financial News] Nara Space Technology Inc. announced on the 17th that it has signed a data supply contract with the Kazakhstan State Space Corporation (Joint Stock Company "National Company 'Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary'", KGS) for the local distribution of micro-methane observation satellite data.
KGS is a state-owned enterprise leading the establishment of Kazakhstan's independent space system, carrying out the overall design, development, and operation of satellites, as well as the collection, processing, and supply of satellite data. It utilizes satellite data for land and resource management and disaster response, while supporting the advancement of national infrastructure and digital transformation.
Under this agreement, Gyeonggi Province will supply KGS with data produced by GYEONGGISat-2A and 2B, which it is pursuing jointly with Nara Space through a public bidding project, as well as its own methane observation satellite constellation 'NarSha,' which is currently being prepared for future launch. KGS will distribute this data to government agencies and industries in Kazakhstan and manage local customers.
The supplied data is used to observe methane emissions from oil refineries and to manage natural gas facilities at the national level. Nara Space’s methane observation satellite identifies the locations and hourly emissions of methane emission sources at the facility and equipment level, which are difficult to detect through wide-area observation alone, based on 25m spatial resolution.
The observation results undergo calibration and analysis to be provided as L4-level data usable by the government and enterprises, which can be directly applied to the Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system for methane emissions. Nara Space plans to shorten the observation cycle and supply relevant data to Kazakhstan more stably by operating additional satellite constellations to be established in the future.
Gyeonggi-Sat-2A and 2B, Korea's first methane observation satellites promoted by Gyeonggi Province for climate policy, are being developed and operated by Nara Space. The satellites prioritize observing methane emission areas within Gyeonggi Province while also securing data from major emission regions both domestically and internationally. The Gyeonggi Climate Satellite Project is a representative public-private partnership model that incorporates microsatellite data into local government administration. The structure is such that Gyeonggi Province retains ownership of its internal observation data for administrative use, while Nara Space utilizes data from other regions for commercialization. Through this KGS contract, Nara Space has laid the foundation to apply the same model to methane management systems in other countries.
"We expect that through cooperation with Nara Space, microsatellite-based methane observation data can be utilized in Kazakhstan's national MRV system," said Kairzhan Kozayev, Chairman of the KGS Board of Directors.
Park Jae-pil, CEO of Nara Space, stated, "The fact that a state-run agency in Kazakhstan has set out to secure methane observation data, following Gyeonggi Province, signifies that global carbon neutrality policies are transitioning beyond declarative goals to a stage of measuring and verifying actual emissions." He added, "As methane reduction is a challenge our era must address, we will contribute to a practical solution by reducing observation blind spots using microsatellites and continuously providing reliable data."
