"Verifying Pledge Fulfillment": Busan Launches Advisory and Evaluation Panel for the Ninth Popularly Elected Administration

[Financial News] The Pledge Advisory and Evaluation Panel, which will review the pledges of Busan’s ninth popularly elected administration, has begun its official activities.
Busan Metropolitan City Government announced on the afternoon of the 17th that it had launched the Pledge Advisory and Evaluation Panel for the mayor’s pledges under the ninth popularly elected administration and begun drawing up implementation plans.
The Pledge Advisory and Evaluation Panel reviews the pledge implementation plans from an objective perspective to realize the ninth popularly elected administration’s urban vision, “Busan, Korea’s Maritime Capital: At the Center of a Great Transformation.” It consists of 30 members, including professors, civic group representatives, and other experts.
The panel will comprehensively examine whether the pledges’ objectives and policy directions align with the city’s vision, as well as their impact on residents, the necessity and feasibility of each project, funding and implementation systems, the possibility of completion during the term, and specific schedules and performance indicators. It will then refine the implementation plans.
It will also review links and overlaps among the pledges and set priorities. For projects requiring cooperation among departments, the panel will specify implementation systems so that the pledges become policies that work in the field rather than remain merely in reports.
Busan Metropolitan City Government plans to flesh out the 123 key pledge items prepared by the transition committee after they are reviewed and refined by the Pledge Advisory and Evaluation Panel. The pledges will then be finalized following approval by a Citizens’ Jury.
The city also decided to actively reflect the panel’s discussions in the pledge implementation process and transparently disclose the progress and results of each pledge to residents.
Mayor Chun Jae-soo said, "I ask for thorough advice and review so that the pledges of the ninth popularly elected administration are presented as a blueprint for making Busan Korea’s Maritime Capital and become policies that genuinely improve residents’ lives through their results."
