Samsung Electronics Begins One UI 9 Update With Enhanced AI and Security

[Financial News] Samsung Electronics will begin rolling out the One UI 9 update, which features enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) and security functions, in South Korea. The update will first be available for the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, with support expanding to additional devices before it is gradually introduced to global markets.
Samsung Electronics announced that it would begin the One UI 9 rollout in South Korea on the 17th. Introduced alongside the three new Samsung Galaxy Z series models unveiled in July, One UI 9 is designed to provide a user experience optimized for various form factors, along with enhanced Galaxy AI features.

The newly added My FanCam feature automatically tracks a person selected by the user in a video and keeps that person centered on the screen. Even when recording footage with a lot of movement, such as a child's performance or a sporting event, users can create a video focused on a specific person without additional editing.
Device-management features have also been enhanced. The Warranty and Care menu allows users to check the warranty period of mobile devices linked to their Samsung account. Users can also access self-diagnostics, estimated repair costs, Samsung Care+ management, and service-center reservations in one place.
Existing Galaxy AI features now include additional personalization options. Now Brief has added a My Card feature that allows users to create and edit cards themselves. Users can organize frequently checked information, such as health, weather, and videos, in the format they prefer.
Now Nudge analyzes how users interact with their Galaxy devices and suggests relevant features. For example, it can retrieve reservation details while users are making plans through messages or save a location shared during a conversation. Creative Studio suggests image-generation ideas for important occasions, such as birthdays.

Interpreter and document- and recording-related features have also been improved. Interpreter now includes Thread View, which allows users to see the flow of previous conversations at a glance. Translation speed in conversation mode has also been improved, enabling Galaxy Buds users to hear translated speech more quickly.
Document Scan has been improved to correct and scan curved book pages and sheets of paper with folded corners. The feature for removing fingers captured while holding a document has also been enhanced. Voice Recorder summarizes recordings and organizes the content into a structured format, including titles and tables.
Security Brief, added to Now Brief, periodically summarizes security and privacy issues, including malicious apps, apps from unknown sources, and unnecessary use of permissions. Users can also immediately take the necessary security measures for each item.
Privacy Alerts, which uses on-device AI, warns users in advance of potential privacy-infringement risks, such as attempts to access unnecessary permissions.
Samsung Electronics has also strengthened its response to voice-phishing scams. The company will expand the countries supporting Suspected Voice Phishing Call Alert, which detects voice-phishing and scam calls in advance, to include Japan, Canada, and India.
The feature also analyzes whether the other party's voice has been altered by AI. If it detects signs of voice manipulation or tampering during a call, it provides real-time warnings through an on-screen pop-up, an alert sound, and vibration. The measure is intended to counter new forms of voice-phishing, including voice cloning using generative AI.
Samsung Electronics plans to gradually expand the devices supporting One UI 9, beginning with the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, and provide the update to global markets following its release in South Korea.
