Hyundai Glovis, Samsung C&T Join Forces on Smart-Building Logistics Automation

[Financial News] Hyundai Glovis is joining forces with Samsung C&T Corporation to launch a logistics automation project in which robots deliver mail and parcels inside smart buildings. The companies aim to create a new building logistics service model for the era of physical AI by applying logistics automation technology to office spaces.
Hyundai Glovis announced on the 17th that it had signed an MOU with Samsung C&T Corporation’s construction division for the joint development of smart-building logistics automation and robot-delivery services. The signing ceremony, held the previous day at Hyundai Glovis’ headquarters in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, was attended by officials from both companies, including Han Gyu-heon, executive director and head of Hyundai Glovis’ Future Innovation Technology Center, and Cho Hye-jeong, senior vice president and head of Samsung C&T’s DxP Division.
Under the agreement, Hyundai Glovis will develop logistics solutions covering the collection, storage, and transfer of delivery items within buildings. Samsung C&T Corporation will analyze the characteristics of smart-building facilities and establish the environment for robot-delivery services. The key initiative is the unmanned delivery of mail and parcels using Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs). Robots will receive, store, and sort items that arrive at underground mailrooms or parcel lockers, then use elevators to move through the building and deliver them to the floors and desks where users work.
The two companies plan to apply artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics throughout the entire process, from receiving and managing deliveries to sorting, transportation, and final delivery. They expect this to reduce in-house mail and parcel-handling tasks while improving the efficiency of logistics processing during building operations. Next year, they will identify a site for joint implementation and conduct a proof of concept (PoC). Based on the results, they will refine the service operating model and assess the potential for commercialization and business development.
Hyundai Glovis plans to use the partnership to expand the application of its logistics automation business from existing logistics centers and manufacturing sites to offices and smart buildings. After acquiring logistics automation specialist Altiall in 2023, the company has continued expanding the business. At this year’s Smart Factory & Automation Industry Exhibition, AW 2026, it also presented a physical AI strategy combining automation equipment, robotics, and data-driven operations.
