[Financial News] During the Chuseok holiday, visitors can view exhibitions by artists such as Do Ho Suh, Daewon Lee, and Bang Hai Ja at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) for free. Children's experience programs and visitor verification events will also be held.
According to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) on the 17th, the four galleries in Seoul, Gwacheon, Deoksugung, and Cheongju will be open to the public free of charge from the 24th to the 27th. However, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul will be closed on the 25th, the day of Chuseok.
At National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, visitors can see 'Do Ho Suh' and 'Artist of the Year 2026'; at the Deoksugung gallery, they can see 'Daewon Lee: Nothing Makes You Sad'.
Gwacheon Gallery is showcasing 'MMCA Gwacheon 40th Anniversary: Imaginations of Light' and 'Road Movie: Korean and Japanese Art Since 1945'. At National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Cheongju, the Bang Hai Ja retrospective 'Bang Hai Ja - Going While Scattering the Light of the Heart Across Heaven and Earth' is currently underway.
MMCA Space Kids on the second floor of the Education Building at National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, is hosting artist Yang Jung Uk's 'The Days We Still Tried.' This program explores the meaning of failure through activities such as stacking wooden blocks and crafting with natural materials. Advance reservations are required via the museum's website.
'Rustling Whispering' in the courtyard of the Education Building can be viewed without a reservation. It showcases the results of a collaboration between artist Kim Joon and Seoul Metropolitan Children's Hospital, in which families explored and recorded the sounds of the museum and its surroundings.
Family visitors should check both the visiting dates and the usage methods for each program. Even during the free admission period, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul is closed for one day, and within the same gallery, experiences requiring advance reservations are separate from exhibitions that can be viewed freely.
The visit verification event will be held from the 23rd to the 27th, one day before the free admission period. Visitors should post a photo of their visit on their Instagram with the hashtag '#2026ChuseokMajiGukHyunmi' and submit the link.
Twenty people will be selected by lottery to receive 'Do Ho Suh City Soap, Seoul House.' This exhibition souvenir captures the form of the house where the artist actually stayed and a scent personally selected by him. Winners will be contacted individually on October 6.
