Kwangdong Pharmaceutical announced on the 17th that it has recently confirmed numerous instances of posters and banners being distributed and displayed in pharmacies, bearing phrases such as "same ingredients and same content as Kwangdong Kyung Ok Go" and "same ingredients at a good price." These promotional materials were produced by using Kwangdong Kyung Ok Go as a direct point of comparison to emphasize differences in ingredients, content, and price.
Kwangdong Pharmaceutical determined that such conduct violated regulations regarding pharmaceutical advertising. The current 'Regulations on Safety of Pharmaceuticals, etc.' prohibit acts in pharmaceutical advertisements that disparage other products or are suspected of doing so.
In response, Kwangdong Pharmaceutical demanded that the relevant pharmaceutical company immediately cease comparative advertising and requested the removal and recall of promotional materials already distributed. It also plans to proceed with necessary civil and criminal legal proceedings against the pharmaceutical company.
An official from Kwangdong Pharmaceutical stated, "Even if the active ingredients and content are the same, differences in efficacy or bioavailability may occur depending on the characteristics of the raw materials, excipients, or manufacturing processes," adding, "We must provide objective and accurate information to prevent consumers from being misled."
He added, "We will respond strictly to this matter to protect consumers and establish a sound market order."
