[Financial News] Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) is working tirelessly to maintain its high-speed trains ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
KORAIL said on the 16th that it inspected safety at a high-speed train maintenance site at the Honam Rolling Stock Maintenance Depot in Gwangju ahead of Chuseok. The inspection was conducted as Yoo Seo-hyeok, KORAIL’s senior vice president for safety, personally toured the KTX maintenance site.
The Honam Rolling Stock Maintenance Depot is a high-speed train maintenance base responsible for servicing KTX-Sancheon trains operating on the Honam, Jeolla, and Gyeongbu lines. It is also the only maintenance facility in South Korea capable of dismantling and servicing the automatic couplers used for coupled and combined operations, in which two KTX trains are connected and operated as one.
Yoo checked the maintenance status of high-speed trains undergoing intensive inspections ahead of Chuseok and reviewed safety management at key work sites, including the automatic coupler workshop and the light-maintenance track. He then examined measures to prevent risks associated with each maintenance task with on-site employees and emphasized the principle, "If it is unsafe, do not work."
Yoo urged employees, saying, "Please devote yourselves to thorough pre-inspections and meticulous maintenance so that people traveling to and from their hometowns by train can do so with peace of mind." He added, "All on-site employees should approach their work with the mindset that they are ultimately responsible for safety and do their utmost to protect workers above all else."
