KICT-JICE Continue 36 Years of Korea-Japan Land and Construction Technology Cooperation, Hold Joint Seminar

[Financial News] Leading research institutions in Korea and Japan’s land and construction sectors continued their 36-year tradition of academic exchange this year.
The Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT) announced on the 16th that it had held the 36th KICT-JICE Joint Seminar.
The seminar marked the 36th year of an annual exchange in land science and technology between KICT and JICE, which began after the two institutions signed an agreement in 1989. Each year, the organizations take turns hosting the event in Korea and Japan, sharing research and policy issues in construction and land development through joint seminars, site visits, and other activities.
The seminar featured 12 presentations and discussions across four areas: rivers; roads; cities and housing; and public procurement and policy. The two institutions shared research findings and policy trends from their respective countries, exchanged views on key issues in construction and land development, and explored ways to strengthen mutual cooperation.
Established in 1973, JICE is a Japanese think tank specializing in land and transport. It conducts research and provides policy support in a range of areas, including river management and disaster prevention policy, roads and smart mobility, urban development, housing and regional regeneration, and public procurement.
Park Sun-kyu said, "The Korea-Japan joint seminar held by KICT and JICE for the 36th time is an important academic event that has consistently contributed to research and policymaking in the construction and land science and technology sectors of both countries." He added, "Building on the close relationship between the two institutions, we will continue to do our utmost to promote cooperation between Korea and Japan in related fields, including joint responses to shared issues."
