KORAIL Joins Forces with Aviation and Road Public Research Institutes for Joint Research on Future Transportation Technologies

[Financial News] Public research institutes affiliated with transportation organizations in the rail, aviation, and road sectors have joined forces to jointly develop future transportation technologies.
Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 16th that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the research institutes of Incheon International Airport Corporation, Korea Airports Corporation (KAC), and Korea Expressway Corporation to promote research cooperation among public transportation research institutes.
Proposed by KORAIL's Railway Research Institute, the agreement was established to enable public transportation organizations to share research results and technical information across institutional boundaries and pursue joint research.
Under the agreement, the four organizations will cooperate across the entire research and development process, including exchanging research results and technical information, identifying and pursuing joint research projects, mutually using testing and demonstration infrastructure, and conducting cross-demonstrations of transportation technologies. In particular, they plan to link their respective expertise and testing and demonstration infrastructure to jointly address transportation-related issues and actively identify convergence research projects that combine each institution's strengths.
Building on this cooperation framework, KORAIL plans to expand the partnership to public institutions in other social overhead capital (SOC) sectors closely related to transportation, strengthening it into a research cooperation system covering public infrastructure as a whole.
A KORAIL official said, "It is highly significant that public transportation research institutes have established a single research network for the first time, going beyond their individual areas of expertise. We will lead the development and commercialization of future transportation technologies that people can experience in their daily lives."
