[Financial News] Kakao Entertainment is entering into a strategic partnership with The Walt Disney Company (Korea). The companies plan to combine K-pop and Disney’s core intellectual properties (IP) to pursue global expansion and collaboration.
According to industry sources on the 16th, the two companies plan to launch collaborations that bring K-pop IP together with Disney’s stories and characters in new ways. They aim to pursue around 10 projects over the medium to long term. To that end, they will discuss and advance various forms of cooperation, including the creation of a K-Culture Fund (working title).
Kakao Entertainment plans to create a new universe in which K-pop IP and Disney storytelling are organically connected, expanding across music, content, commerce and live performances.
Kakao Entertainment said, "K-pop has grown beyond content into a massive cultural phenomenon that drives global trends in fashion, beauty and other lifestyle sectors. Through this partnership, K-pop artists and music will meet Disney’s stories, which have been loved around the world for decades, and expand into a new universe."
