[Financial News] Kakao Entertainment is joining forces with The Walt Disney Company Korea to present content that combines K-pop intellectual property with Disney’s popular characters and stories.
Kakao Entertainment announced on September 16 that it had formed a strategic partnership with The Walt Disney Company Korea to expand K-pop intellectual property globally and pursue new forms of collaboration.
K-pop has grown beyond content into a major cultural phenomenon that drives global trends in lifestyle areas such as fashion and beauty.
The two companies plan to pursue approximately 10 medium- to long-term projects that combine K-pop artists and music with Disney stories and characters. They will also discuss measures such as establishing a tentatively named “K-Culture Fund.”
Kakao Entertainment has produced and distributed a wide range of K-culture intellectual property, including music, dramas, and webtoons, and expanded it into performances, merchandise, and global fan platforms. Building on this experience, the company plans to create new worlds that combine K-pop with Disney stories and expand them into music, content, merchandise, performances, and other areas together with Disney.
Kakao Entertainment stated, "Through this collaboration, K-pop artists and music will meet Disney stories that have been loved around the world for many years and expand into new worlds," adding, "We expect to offer global fans unique enjoyment and emotion that they have never experienced before."
