Korea Expressway Corporation Expands Cooperation on Road Projects in Bangladesh and Türkiye

Korea Expressway Corporation announced on the 16th that it participated in the '2026 Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference (GICC),' held at the Conrad Hotel in Seoul since the 15th, to review the status of projects by country and discuss additional cooperation plans.
First, it met with Shaikh Rabiul Alam, Minister of Roads, Transport and Bridges of Bangladesh, to discuss extending the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contract scheduled to end in 2027.
The corporation has participated in local projects since 2014, beginning with the 'Padma Multipurpose Bridge construction supervision,' and is currently carrying out O&M for the Padma Multipurpose Bridge and N8 Dhaka-Mawa.
In Türkiye, it discussed cooperation on follow-up projects with Ahmet Gülsen, Director General of Roads.
After winning the 'Nakas-Basakşehir Investment Project' in 2024, the corporation secured the 'Knalı-Malkara Operation and Maintenance Project' and the 'Malkara-Çanakkale Major Repair Project' this year.
Based on these project achievements, the two sides discussed cooperation plans to pursue the follow-up project, the 'Izmir Northeast Ring Road Investment Project.'
On the 17th, officials from countries participating in the GICC will tour the Korea Expressway Corporation Traffic Control Center. The corporation plans to introduce its Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and traffic control technologies.
The GICC is an international infrastructure cooperation event that began in 2013. This year's event was attended by more than 500 domestic and international infrastructure officials, including ministers and vice ministers from over 30 countries.
Yoo Jeong-hoon, President of Korea Expressway Corporation, said, "Participation in the GICC provided an opportunity to strengthen our cooperation framework with major overseas organizations," adding, "We will continue to expand our overseas cooperation network so that our corporation can actively advance into overseas markets."
