[Financial News] The focus of competition in artificial intelligence (AI) is shifting from technology adoption to generating results in business and production operations, according to an industry assessment. In home appliances, competition is expanding beyond individual products to services that connect entire living spaces, while demand is expected to increase in the power and energy sectors as AI adoption spreads. KITA plans to support export companies in developing business strategies by sharing industry-specific changes and corporate responses.
KITA announced on the 16th that it had held the first KITA Innovation Forum at the Startup Branch of COEX in Seoul. About 150 representatives from export companies attended the event, which was held under the theme "Innovation Trends by Industry from Global Companies."
Park Hyung-gon, a partner at Deloitte who delivered the keynote speech, emphasized, "Artificial intelligence is moving beyond simple technology adoption and entering a phase in which it is reshaping how companies operate and the structure of industries. The focus of competition will now be on how quickly companies can apply AI to their business and production operations and connect it to tangible results."
Experts then gave presentations in five areas: AI homes and home appliances, robotics, mobility, energy infrastructure and manufacturing innovation, and the environment and construction. The speakers introduced technological changes in the field and corporate response cases, while identifying issues that companies should focus on to discover new business opportunities.
In the AI home and home appliance sector, competition to lead services across entire living spaces, beyond connections between individual products, was highlighted. Choi Ho-young, a team leader at LG Electronics, explained, "AI is evolving beyond enhancing product functions toward organically connecting services tailored to users' lifestyles and spaces."
Choi added, "As competition expands from a focus on individual devices to a contest for leadership of ecosystems encompassing entire living spaces, it will also bring major changes to the customer experience."
Business opportunities in the power and energy sectors arising from the growth of the AI industry were also discussed. Jung Seong-hoon, a manager at LS ELECTRIC, forecast, "As AI-based industries grow, the importance of stable power supply and energy efficiency is also increasing. In particular, demand will rise rapidly in related areas such as power distribution, power management, and smart energy solutions."
KITA plans to continue holding forums on various topics to share the innovation experiences accumulated by large companies and startups with the trade industry.
Jang Seok-min, KITA's executive vice president, stated, "We established the KITA Innovation Forum to spread the innovation capabilities and know-how accumulated by large companies and startups throughout the trade industry. We will continue to hold innovation forums on various topics so that Korean companies can respond proactively to industrial changes and create new business opportunities."
