KOSPI Composite Index in Trading Standoff Between Other Corporations and Institutions vs. Foreign Investors and Individuals [fn Afternoon Market]

[Financial News] The KOSPI Composite Index is rising as other corporations and institutional investors buy, despite selling by foreign investors and individuals.
As of 2:25 p.m. on the 16th, the KOSPI Composite Index was trading at 6,684.28, up 57.02 points (0.86%) from the previous session. It opened at 6,611.24, down 16.02 points (0.24%) from the previous close, and has fluctuated throughout the session.
On the KOSPI market, other corporations and institutional investors were net buyers of 1.5025 trillion won and 1.024 trillion won, respectively. Foreign investors and individuals, meanwhile, were net sellers of 1.5399 trillion won and 985.1 billion won, respectively.
Among the largest stocks by market capitalization, artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor-related shares were strong, including Samsung Electronics (1.41%), SK hynix (2.78%), and Samsung Electro-Mechanics (4.18%). LG Energy Solution (1.09%) and Samsung C&T (1.15%) also advanced. Hyundai Motor (-1.63%), Samsung Biologics (-1.06%), and KB Financial Group (-0.11%), however, were weak.
Most sectors declined, with IT services (-2.28%), construction (-2.25%), electricity and gas (-1.96%), entertainment and culture (-1.77%), and transportation equipment and parts (-1.72%) posting the steepest losses. Electricity and electronics (2.05%), manufacturing (1.30%), distribution (0.75%), and medical and precision instruments (0.73%) were among the sectors that gained.
At the same time, KOSDAQ was trading at 811.69, down 0.72 points (0.09%) from the previous session. It opened at 808.37, down 4.04 points (0.50%) from the previous close.
On KOSDAQ, individuals were the only net buyers, purchasing shares worth 66.9 billion won. Foreign investors and institutional investors sold shares worth 47.9 billion won and 17.9 billion won, respectively.
