President Lee Jae Myung Sends Chuseok Gifts Featuring Specialties from the Five Mega-Regions and Three Special Self-Governing Provinces Strategy Areas; Cheong Wa Dae Says "Coexistence and Integration"

[Financial News] President Lee Jae Myung sent holiday gifts to national merit honorees, socially disadvantaged people, families of industrial accident victims and others from all walks of life. This year’s gifts brought together specialties from across the country, highlighting the significance of national unity and balanced regional development.
According to Cheong Wa Dae on the 16th, President Lee sent Chuseok gifts to prominent figures from various fields who have contributed to national development, as well as war heroes, national merit honorees and socially disadvantaged people. As was the case last year, families of victims of workplace accidents were also included among the recipients.
Cheong Wa Dae explained, "The gifts reflect the government’s commitment to creating a society where everyone can work safely and enjoy peaceful daily lives."
This year’s Chuseok gifts were assembled from regional specialties across the country in line with the government’s Five Mega-Regions and Three Special Self-Governing Provinces Strategy. They included sliced red ginseng from Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province; chestnut chips from Chungju, North Chungcheong Province; Andong soju from Andong, North Gyeongsang Province; sliced shiitake mushrooms from Jangheung County, South Jeolla Province; and jujube chips from Miryang, South Gyeongsang Province. The package also featured Igangju liquor from Jeonju, North Jeolla Province; gondre greens from Jeongseon County, Gangwon Province; and bracken from Jeju Province.
Cheong Wa Dae said the gifts conveyed the meaning of coexistence and integration among regions by combining traditional liquors representing the Yeongnam and Honam regions with agricultural and specialty products from across the country. Wild greens and mushrooms that can be used in holiday dishes, along with snacks for the whole family, were also included.
In a card sent with the gifts, President Lee wrote, "I hope you have a precious Chuseok holiday in which you share greetings with those you miss and happiness with the people you love." He added, "Like the moon that illuminates everyone’s night without regard to qualifications or conditions, I will work even harder to shine a bright light on the lives of all citizens."
President Lee also plans to send Chuseok gifts to former presidents and their spouses. Kim Tae Geun, senior secretary for local development, will visit the residences of former presidents and their spouses to deliver the holiday gifts on the president’s behalf.
