According to industry sources on the 20th, long-distance travel and holiday preparations are among the biggest causes of holiday fatigue, commonly known as “holiday syndrome.” Physical fatigue can build up through hours of driving, grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning up. People in their 40s and 50s, who often face significant responsibilities at both work and home, may find it difficult to secure enough time for rest, allowing fatigue to linger.
Overeating and drinking can also cause a decline in condition after the holiday. Consuming greasy foods such as jeon and braised short ribs, along with more food than usual, may lead to indigestion or heartburn. Alcohol consumption can further extend feelings of fatigue into the following day.
Holiday syndrome is not limited to physical symptoms. Conversations about marriage, employment and children’s education among family members or relatives meeting after a long time can become a source of psychological stress. When sleep deprivation and physical fatigue overlap, irritability or lethargy may intensify, making sufficient sleep and rest a priority.
Managing fatigue with nutritional supplements is also receiving increased attention during this period. B vitamins are involved in the body’s energy metabolism and nervous system function. Benfotiamine and bisbentiamine are vitamin B1 derivatives, while mecobalamin is an active form of vitamin B12. However, supplements are not medicines that treat the causes of fatigue, so improving lifestyle habits and getting adequate rest should come first.
As interest in managing holiday fatigue grows, active vitamin products from the pharmaceutical industry are also drawing attention. B vitamins are nutrients involved in energy metabolism and the maintenance of nervous system function. Benfotiamine and bisbentiamine are vitamin B1 derivatives, while mecobalamin is an active form of vitamin B12.
Chong Kun Dang Pharmaceutical’s “Benfobel S Tablets” is an over-the-counter medication containing three active vitamins, including benfotiamine, bisbentiamine and mecobalamin. It combines B vitamins with various other ingredients, including ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), taurine, methionine and orotic acid.
Daewoong Pharmaceutical’s “Impactamin” and GC Biopharma’s “B-MAX” are also product lines differentiated by their ingredients and dosages, with B vitamins as their main components.
However, the fact that B vitamins are involved in the body’s energy metabolism does not mean they can resolve all fatigue caused by sleep deprivation or overwork. It is important to avoid excessive drinking and overeating during the holiday and get enough rest.
If fatigue or digestive symptoms continue for an extended period after the holiday, or if clear symptoms such as pain appear, people should visit a medical institution to identify the cause rather than dismissing them as ordinary post-holiday effects.
