KORAIL Begins Introduction of 370 km/h 'EMU-370'

This project is being pursued to implement the government's national agenda of "introducing 400 km/h next-generation high-speed railways" and to secure competitiveness in the field of high-speed railway operation and maintenance.
The EMU-370 consists of 16 cars per train. It is expected to improve operational efficiency and reduce energy consumption by being the first to apply the 'Intelligent Energy Optimization System (IEOS),' which automatically controls the train according to the optimal operating pattern for each track.
In addition, ride comfort standards are being strengthened, and the vehicles are being designed to operate even in extreme weather conditions. A condition-based maintenance (CBM) system will also be applied to monitor vehicle status in real time and determine when maintenance is needed.
Designs aimed at enhancing user convenience will also be expanded. Plans include providing dedicated first-class compartments and increasing luggage storage space, while also incorporating an aerodynamic exterior and a new interior design.
Cha Jae-hwan, Head of KORAIL's Rolling Stock Division, stated, "This is an important project preparing for the era of the nation's highest-speed railway," adding, "We will thoroughly manage the process from the manufacturing stage to ensure the timely introduction of safe and convenient high-speed trains."
