HUG said on the 16th that it had received a Minister of SMEs and Startups Award at the National Contribution Awards held on the 15th in recognition of its ESG support activities for small and medium-sized enterprises.
HUG has pursued support programs such as smart-factory construction, overseas market development, and the HUG Startup School to promote a culture of shared growth with SMEs. In the Public Institution Shared-Growth Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in April, it earned the highest score in its evaluation group and received the top grade.
This year, HUG declared the beginning of its ESG management initiative alongside the inauguration of its new head and is also working to promote mutual growth with local SMEs. It held a meeting with Busan IT companies, becoming the first among public institutions relocated outside the capital region to do so, and introduced a preliminary review system for preferential contracts with local companies.
HUG plans to build a shared-growth ecosystem by giving greater preference to local companies in its existing SME support programs and strengthening their links to its core business. Through the second HUG Startup School, it will provide commercialization funding directly to startups for the first time in the corporation's history and work to identify quality jobs.
HUG President Choi In-ho said, "We will expand shared-growth programs for SMEs linked to our core business and actively pursue mutual-growth initiatives for Busan SMEs, becoming a leading ESG management company that drives regional development."
