[Financial News] Busan Transportation Corporation announced on the 16th that it will sell Busan Metro tickets through partnerships with global online travel agencies (OTAs). Beginning with the launch of an exclusive ticket product on the global travel platform KKday, the corporation will use global travel platforms to make it easier for foreign tourists to use the Busan Metro.
Foreign tourists can check transportation options and prepare their tickets through familiar travel platforms from the planning stage of their Busan trips. This reduces the inconvenience of purchasing transportation cards or tickets locally, as well as the burden of using unfamiliar payment methods and languages.
Busan Transportation Corporation will also launch bundled products linking major tourist attractions in Busan with the Busan Metro in cooperation with KKday. It will later introduce standalone ticket products and tourism packages sequentially on Trip.com.
The corporation also plans to expand ticket purchasing channels through continued cooperation with OTAs.
Earlier, on the 4th, the corporation officially launched a mobile ticket purchasing service linked to Alipay+ and UnionPay, following its existing partnership with WeChat Pay. Tourists who do not use travel platforms can purchase tickets directly in Busan through the mobile payment apps they normally use.
Lee Byung-jin, president of Busan Transportation Corporation, said, "The development of products linked to global travel platforms and the expansion of mobile payment services have made it easier and more convenient for foreign tourists to use the Busan Metro. We will continue expanding services that connect tourism and transportation through cooperation with global platforms, further improving the travel convenience of foreign tourists visiting Busan."
