[Financial News] Netflix is partnering with the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) to help develop the next generation of Asian creators. This year’s program will expand to its largest scale yet, adding industry discussions on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the creative process and hands-on workshops.
Netflix announced on the 16th that it will host Creative Asia at Dongseo University’s Centum Campus in Busan on October 10 in partnership with the Busan International Film Festival. This will mark the third consecutive year that Creative Asia has been held in Busan.
Creative Asia is Netflix’s industry education program designed to support the next generation of Asian creators as they develop their ideas into actual video content. This year’s program was jointly planned by the Busan International Film Festival, the Asia Film Commissions Network (AFCNet) and the Motion Picture Association (MPA).
The program will consist of masterclasses on filmmaking, storytelling and the use of filming locations. It will also feature an industry discussion on AI, whose role in the creative process is growing, along with practical advice on producing films on a range of budgets.
A workshop session will also be introduced for the first time this year. It is designed to give aspiring creators direct access to practical knowledge about content production from leaders in Netflix’s content division.
Through Creative Asia, Netflix is also expanding its cooperation with film festivals across Asia. Last year, it collaborated with the Jakarta International Film Festival (JAFF), and it continues to support emerging creators through partnerships with film festivals across the Asia-Pacific region.
A Netflix representative said, "This year, we have further expanded the program by adding workshops to the masterclasses and industry discussions, enabling emerging creators to build the practical skills they need."
