Korean Aerospace Component Technology Projected to Generate 102.7 Billion Won in Sales by 2032

[Financial News] New contracts for domestically developed aerospace component technology totaled 95.7 billion won, with sales projected to reach 102.7 billion won by 2032.
The Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA) held a results-sharing event on the Aerospace Component Manufacturing Process Advancement Technology Development Project (R&D, 2024–2028) at Lotte Hotel Jeju on the 16th and disclosed these achievements. The project, which has a total budget of approximately 18.5 billion won, aims to strengthen the export capabilities of Korean aircraft manufacturers and reinforce the aerospace industry ecosystem. It supports the development of initial components and manufacturing-process technologies for aircraft parts.
Six companies currently serve as lead organizations, with a total of 20 institutions participating in research to advance the manufacturing processes for components used in Airbus A320 and A330 and Boeing 737 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The six companies are Korean Air, Yulgok, KP Aerospace Industries, Kencoa Aerospace, Se Woo Aerospace, and ANH Structure.
The project is expected to generate total sales of 102.7 billion won. Yulgok is expected to account for the largest share, at 95.7 billion won by 2032, through domestic replacement production of Boeing 737 wing structures and the signing of new supply contracts. ANH Structure expects to generate approximately 1 billion won in domestic supply sales after obtaining additional certification for aircraft cabin components through the project. It is also pursuing overseas supply opportunities by expanding its international certifications.
In addition, KP Aerospace Industries is expected to generate 4 billion won from aircraft wing-structure orders, while Se Woo Aerospace is projected to achieve 2 billion won through components for military fixed-wing aircraft and light armed helicopters. Kencoa Aerospace is pursuing a contract to supply fuselage structures for cargo-aircraft conversions. A considerable portion of the expected orders is linked to overseas aircraft manufacturers, raising hopes that the project will expand exports by Korean aerospace-component companies and help them enter global supply chains.
KASA is planning the large-scale research-oriented Aircraft Systems-Linked Materials and Components Technology Development Project to connect these achievements to follow-up R&D. The key objective is to expand the process and production technology achievements and contract performance confirmed through this project into technological self-reliance in materials and components.
Oh Tae-seok, head of KASA, said, "To enhance the competitiveness of aircraft components, it is important not only to develop outstanding technologies but also to secure the process capabilities needed to produce them reliably." He added, "I hope this results-sharing event will serve as an opportunity to spread R&D achievements throughout the industrial sector. We will continue supporting efforts to strengthen the manufacturing capabilities of Korean companies and achieve technological self-reliance in aerospace materials and components."
The results-sharing event was organized to review the project’s interim achievements and discuss ways to apply and expand them in the industrial sector. Participating institutions shared their R&D results for each assignment, along with experience accumulated while improving manufacturing processes and securing quality at production sites. They also explored cooperation measures to connect the technologies developed to actual component production and commercialization.
