[Financial News] "We will combine the speed and innovation of the private sector with the responsibility and public nature of a public corporation, enhance Jeju Samdasoo's competitiveness, and ensure that the achievements we create return to Jeju and its residents."
Kim Do-young, the newly appointed head of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development (pictured), said on the 16th, "I will find answers in the field and demonstrate them through results."
Kim, a native of Jeju, graduated from Ohyeon High School and Seoul National University’s College of Business Administration. He spent about 27 years at private-sector companies, including LG Uplus and GS Engineering & Construction, handling a range of duties in sales and distribution, new businesses, and corporate management. In particular, he built broad management experience in sales strategies responding to market changes, identifying new businesses, and managing organizations and operations.
After taking office, Kim plans to make strengthening Jeju Samdasoo's competitiveness his top priority and pursue company-wide management innovation to ensure the organization's sustainable growth.
As competition in the bottled-water market intensifies and the consumption and distribution environment changes rapidly, he will closely review the organization's core businesses and focus its capabilities on solidifying Jeju Samdasoo's position as the No. 1 brand in South Korea.
He also plans to apply his experience in private-sector companies to the role and responsibilities of a public corporation, making a balance between public interest and profitability, field-oriented management, open communication, and a transparent organizational culture the key directions of his management.
Kim will begin his field-oriented activities on his first day in office. After receiving his appointment certificate that morning, he will pay respects in succession at the Jeju Hangil Memorial Hall's Changyeolsa Shrine, the National Jeju Patriots Cemetery, and Jeju 4.3 Peace Park. In the afternoon, he will hold an inauguration ceremony at the Samdasoo Facility with employees and the labor union in attendance.
After the inauguration ceremony, he plans to tour major facilities, beginning with the labor union office and continuing to the research building, office building, and Samdasoo plant at the Samdasoo Facility, as well as Citrus Plant 1. He will review pending issues and hear directly from employees.
