Rebellions targets Japan’s inference market, to deploy more than 100 “Rebel Rack” units

[Financial News] Rebellions is expanding its push into Japan’s AI infrastructure market by deploying more than 100 units of its AI inference infrastructure, “Rebel Rack,” at data centers in Japan. The company aims to tap demand for sovereign AI by enabling Japanese companies, government agencies, and developers to use inference services based on Rebellions’ AI semiconductors locally.
Rebellions announced on the 16th that it had signed a partnership to this effect with ai&, a vertically integrated global AI technology company.
ai& plans to deploy Rebellions’ Rebel Rack at its data center in Tokyo and expand the deployment from the initial batch to more than 100 units. The initial deployment could also increase further depending on ai&’s plans to expand its data centers.
ai& operates heterogeneous infrastructure that combines different computing resources according to the characteristics of AI workloads. It has secured more than $2 billion in infrastructure investment and aims to operate five sites by the end of 2026 and secure 40 megawatts of infrastructure by the end of 2027.
Rebellions will supply AI inference-focused infrastructure designed to improve power efficiency and reduce operating costs. It has also ensured compatibility with existing development environments. Rebellions supports the open-source software and frameworks that ai&’s technical team uses in GPU environments, allowing the system to be introduced without a large-scale transition. The two companies expect the first system to be operational from the day it is delivered.
Japanese companies, government agencies, and developers will be able to use AI inference infrastructure based on Rebellions’ solutions installed locally in Japan. Rebellions plans to establish direct contact with Japanese customers and expand its business base in Japan’s AI infrastructure market.
