[Financial News] Homeplus is holding its second large-scale discount event ahead of Chuseok, featuring popular foods and items used in ancestral rites. The retailer said it has also restocked more than 3,600 essential items.
According to industry sources on the 16th, Homeplus will launch the second installment of its “Homeplus is BACK” campaign to curb Chuseok-related price increases on the 17th. Discounts will focus on products in high demand for holiday shopping, including pork belly, pork shoulder, Korean beef, eggs, fish and fruit.
Featured products include Bomeokdwae pork belly and pork shoulder, as well as all Korean beef products, which will be sold at discounted prices. Other popular foods, such as eggs, salmon, red bean buns and old-fashioned whole fried chicken, are also included in the event. Seasonal fruits, including Shine Muscat and Campbell Early grapes, are eligible as well.
Some foods, including tofu, fermented sauces, yogurt, processed milk, and pasta sauces and noodles, will be offered as buy-one-get-one promotions. Chuseok preparation items, such as ramen, snacks, beverages, assorted jeon and other foods used in ancestral rites, cooking oil, glass noodles, and pancake and frying mixes, will also be sold at discounted prices.
Homeplus will also offer Chuseok gift sets. The selection includes fruit sets featuring apples and pears, as well as refrigerated Korean beef gift sets. Some products will come with additional card and membership discounts.
A Homeplus representative said, "This event goes beyond simply discounting popular products. We have restocked more than 3,600 essential items to broaden customers’ choices and prepared a wide range of products, including popular foods and Chuseok items used in ancestral rites, at exceptionally low prices."
