KGM to Supply 20 Musso EVs to Paraguay, Targeting Public Market Through ODA

[Financial News] KG Mobility (KGM) will supply 20 electric pickup trucks, the KGM Musso EV, to Paraguay through the government’s official development assistance (ODA) program. Under the project, local government agencies and other organizations will pilot the electric vehicles and establish charging and maintenance infrastructure. KGM plans to expand its overseas sales channels and increase export volumes by using public-sector supply as a foothold.
KGM said on the 16th that a delegation of Paraguayan government and institutional representatives visiting Korea under an invitation program from the Ministry of Trade and Industry toured its Pyeongtaek plant on the 15th.
The meeting was attended by KGM CEO Hwang Ki-young, Kwon Yong-il, head of development and production, Javier Viveros, Paraguay’s vice minister of industry, and Yang Jeong-jik, president of the Korea Automotive Technology Institute (KATECH). The participants shared updates on KGM’s latest technologies, including electric vehicles, and discussed ways to cooperate.
The vehicle supply is linked to the construction of the “Automotive Parts TASK Center” in Paraguay, a project being pursued by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy as part of its industrial trade and cooperation development support program.
KATECH, the project’s lead organization, will oversee the center’s construction and operation. It will also support the pilot deployment of electric vehicles, including electric buses and small electric trucks, as well as the installation of charging stations and the establishment of after-sales service (AS) centers. KGM will supply 20 KGM Musso EVs for the pilot deployment.
Paraguay plans to deploy the electric vehicles introduced through the project at government agencies and other institutions for pilot use in passenger transportation and freight operations. The initiative is intended to expand electric-vehicle adoption by building vehicle operation, charging, and maintenance infrastructure together.
After the meeting, the delegation toured the production line and design center. They examined the SE-10, scheduled for release early next year, and a concept car, and observed the production process for clay models made at actual vehicle scale. At the test track, they test-drove the KGM Musso and Actyon Hybrid.
A KGM official said, "Through this visit, the Paraguayan delegation was able to directly assess KGM’s eco-friendly vehicle technology and quality-control capabilities." The official added, "As KGM products are recognized for their excellence in overseas markets not only by individual customers but also by the public sector, we will secure sales channels and expand the market through not only government ODA projects but also supply-chain diversification, thereby increasing our export volumes."
