[Financial News] Busan Metropolitan City Government announced that it will host the '2026 International Climate Industry Expo' at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) for three days from the 16th to the 18th, where visitors can explore a concentration of global decarbonization technologies.
Starting with an opening ceremony on the morning of the 16th, the expo will proceed with 14 academic conferences, including the Climate and Energy Forum, an exhibition featuring over 550 companies, and business consultations. At the opening ceremony, following opening remarks by the Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment and a welcome address by Busan Mayor Chun Jae-soo, key figures such as Fatih Birol, Director General of the International Energy Agency, and Francesco La Camera, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency, will take the podium.
A total of 14 conferences will be held to discuss key agendas in the climate and energy sectors facing the world. The conferences consist of Global Climate Governance, led by international organizations such as the International Energy Agency (IEA) to discuss global energy policies and technologies; Domestic Climate Initiatives, which seek strategies for implementing carbon neutrality; and Climate Solution Platforms centered on the needs of climate industry users.
Approximately 550 domestic and international companies, including leading Korean firms such as Samsung Group and LG, are participating in the exhibition to showcase various innovative technologies in the climate and energy sectors. In the five main exhibition halls, visitors can find technologies across all fields, including high-efficiency equipment, renewable energy, eco-friendly technologies, carbon neutrality, and meteorological observation equipment.
A 'Climate Tech Special Zone' will also be operated, allowing visitors to explore innovative technologies from startups and SMEs in the climate tech sector in one place. In addition, various side events will be organized, including business consultation sessions for domestic and international buyers to conduct export and sales talks, docent tours featuring professional guides on the technologies of major companies, a climate quiz show, and an upcycling experience.
During the expo, the city will operate two venues: the 'Busan City Energy Policy Promotion Hall,' which introduces the city's major energy policies, and the 'Hydrogen Energy Experience Booth.' The Energy Policy Promotion Hall consists of a policy promotion zone, a consultation zone, and an experience booth zone to inform the public about the city's key policies, while the experience booth is equipped as a space to learn about the principles of hydrogen energy generation and to assess the safety of hydrogen energy through virtual reality (VR).
Any citizen wishing to participate in this expo can do so for free by registering on-site at the BEXCO Auditorium and Exhibition Hall 1.
