On the 15th (local time), Euclid CEO Bernardo Kastrup told U.S. business network CNBC in an interview, "Samsung was named a co-investor in a $231 million (approximately 315 billion won) Series A funding round joined by Somerset Capital Partners, Innovation Industries and the ScaleUp Europe Fund."
Kastrup said, "Samsung can help us in ways that go beyond providing funding," adding, "It is one of the world’s largest memory semiconductor manufacturers, with outstanding engineering capabilities, a strong understanding of systems, a supply chain and an extensive global network."
NVIDIA initially dominated the advanced AI semiconductor market by using gaming GPUs for AI training and inference. Recently, however, major technology companies and startups have been developing their own AI semiconductors. For example, OpenAI announced its AI semiconductor, Jalapeno, last month, while Google, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Meta are also accelerating upgrades to their proprietary AI semiconductors.
Founded in 2024, Euclid is a Netherlands-based company that designs AI semiconductor systems for inference using an architecture completely different from that of conventional GPUs.
Euclid has not yet undergone large-scale validation, but it claims that its silicon systems for foundation models can dramatically reduce AI data center infrastructure costs and power demand. The company reportedly aims to begin releasing physical semiconductor systems in 2028 and provide services to thousands of companies by 2030.
