[Financial News] LG Electronics is strengthening its development capabilities by sharing know-how and achievements in software development using artificial intelligence (AI).
LG Electronics said on the 16th that it held LG AI DevCon 2026 at LG Sciencepark in Magok, Seoul, for two days starting on the 15th, under the direction of the LG Software Council. The event is a revamped version of the LG Software Developers Conference, which has been held annually since 2022 to reflect changes in the AI-centered development environment.
About 1,500 developers from LG Electronics, LG CNS, and LG Uplus participated online and in person. Exhibition areas were also set up where attendees could experience the latest AI technologies from NVIDIA, Microsoft, Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and LG AI Research.
Participants shared cases in which AI was used to improve development productivity. LG Electronics introduced its know-how and achievements in applying AI to the development of its proprietary smart TV platform, webOS. LG CNS presented a case involving the improvement of legacy systems using AI, while LG Uplus unveiled its achievements in content production using conversational AI agents. The examples demonstrate that AI is becoming a core tool in the development of products and services, rather than merely an aid for developers.
On the first day of the event, the final round of the LG Promptathon Challenge 2026 was held. The service-development competition used EXAONE from LG AI Research and Kiro, an AI development tool from AWS. The 10 teams that passed the preliminary round showcased services including a home-appliance installation simulator and a service for creating customized proposals for business-to-business (B2B) customers.
Dongwook Kim, executive vice president and head of LG Electronics' SW Center, said, "We will accelerate AI-based development innovation by actively sharing the experiences and innovative cases accumulated in the field, and connect them to new value and services that customers can experience."
