BGF Retail Completes Busan Logistics Center, Establishing Key Import-Export Hub

[Financial News] BGF Retail’s Busan Logistics Center, operated by the convenience-store chain CU, is opening after more than two years of construction. The facility is the largest of its kind in Korea’s convenience-store industry. It is expected to improve logistics efficiency in Busan and the Yeongnam region while serving as a hub for overseas import and export logistics in connection with Busan New Port.
Busan Metropolitan City Government said a completion ceremony for BGF Retail’s Busan Logistics Center would be held on the afternoon of the 16th in Gurang-dong, Gangseo District.
BGF Retail operates the CU convenience-store chain and has more than 18,000 franchised stores.
Its consolidated revenue stood at KRW 9.0612 trillion in 2025, and the company has recently expanded overseas into Hawaii, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan.
The Busan Logistics Center was built on a 47,186.8-square-meter site, with a total floor area of 128,072.65 square meters. It has one basement level and four above-ground floors. Covering an area equivalent to 18 soccer fields, it is more than twice the size of BGF Retail’s existing central logistics center in Jincheon County, North Chungcheong Province. The project represents BGF Retail’s largest investment in logistics infrastructure, with approximately KRW 260 billion invested.
The facility features automated equipment to reduce physically demanding work, as well as solar power generation equipment on the roof.
The Busan Logistics Center is expected to become BGF Retail’s core logistics hub. It will serve as a second central logistics center supplying products nationwide and as a regional logistics center, while also integrating the functions of an import-export hub linked to Busan New Port.
Busan Metropolitan City Government expects the large-scale investment by BGF Retail, attracted to the city in 2021, to contribute not only to revitalizing the local economy and creating jobs but also to strengthening Busan’s competitiveness in the logistics industry now that the Busan Logistics Center has been completed.
About 100 people will attend the completion ceremony, including Mayor Chun Jae-soo, BGF Group Chairman Hong Seok-jo, BGF Group Vice Chairman Hong Jung-kook, Gangseo District Mayor Park Sang-jun, and Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority Commissioner Park Seong-ho. The ceremony will proceed with an opening declaration, a progress report, presentation of appreciation plaques, commemorative and congratulatory remarks, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, unveiling of the completion monument, and a commemorative photo.
