South Korea–U.S. Foreign Ministers to Hold Bilateral Meeting on the 18th; Attention Focuses on ‘Troop Deployment’ Discussions

[Financial News] Foreign Minister Cho Hyun will visit Washington, D.C., and hold South Korea–U.S. foreign ministers’ talks on the 18th.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said on the 16th that Cho Hyun will visit Washington, D.C., from the 17th to the 19th. Talks with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio are scheduled for the 18th.
MOFA said the two sides plan to consult on "a wide range of topics, including South Korea–U.S. relations, issues concerning the Korean Peninsula, and regional and global affairs."
The bilateral meeting between Cho Hyun and Marco Rubio will be held about seven months after their previous meeting in February.
The talks are expected to cover South Korea’s investment in the United States, follow-up security consultations after the leaders’ summit, and efforts to create momentum for dialogue between North Korea and the United States.
Particular attention is being paid to whether the two sides will exchange views on these issues during the South Korea–U.S. foreign ministers’ meeting.
