[Financial News] A Nasdaq-listed company is pursuing tokenized financing backed by the intellectual property (IP) of its medical device.
According to the token securities industry on the 16th, healthcare company Cosmos Health has signed a contract with digital asset adviser Prime Ledger to design tokenized financing backed by the patent IP for its medical device CCX0722.
Cosmos Health’s financing method is designed to raise capital without issuing additional company shares. Its core feature is an asset-specific, non-dilutive financing structure that uses specific IP as a separate asset to secure development funding.
CCX0722 is being developed as an ingestible medical device taken in capsule form before meals. The dried hydrogel absorbs water in the stomach and forms particles designed to expand by more than 100 times and occupy space in the stomach. The hydrogel is not absorbed systemically and passes through the gastrointestinal tract. Cosmos Health acquired full ownership of the technology last June through the acquisition of international patent application WO2025108566A1. The patent application entered the European regional phase as well as the national phases in the United States, Australia, and Canada in June.
Cosmos Health plans to retain ownership of the IP for CCX0722 and the resulting economic benefits, including future cash flows. Prime Ledger will handle IP valuation and asset mapping, regulatory pathway analysis, investor classification, and the design of the legal structure and investor rights. It plans to carry out the initial structuring by the fourth quarter of this year. However, the issuance size, investor rights, target countries, and whether an actual issuance will take place have not yet been determined, as the project remains in the structuring stage.
Greg Siokas, CEO of Cosmos Health, said, "The company fully owns the intellectual property, and patent rights have advanced in four major markets."
