Trump Claims 2024 Assassination Attempt Was a “Democratic Party Conspiracy” Ahead of Midterm Elections

[Financial News] United States President Donald Trump, ahead of the midterm elections in November, has revisited the assassination attempt against him in 2024. He claimed that the Democratic administration covered up the incident, saying, “New information has emerged.”
On the 15th, Trump posted on the social media platform Truth Social and again mentioned former United States President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. He wrote, “Everyone knows that crooked Joe Biden’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) failed to do what it should have done regarding the lunatic who shot me in Butler, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.” Trump claimed, “When I took office on January 20 of last year, most of the information was either missing, fabricated, corrupted, or gone.” He continued, “New information has just been discovered,” and stressed, “Why wasn’t this information discovered long ago? All of this was a Democratic Party conspiracy to remove me from the election, but it failed.” After mentioning Christopher Wray, who was FBI director at the time, Trump added, “Dirty cop Christopher Wray must pay for the way he handled and spoke about this assassination attempt.”
On July 13 last year, at a farm showground in Butler, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, 20-year-old white man Thomas Matthew Crooks shot at Trump, who was campaigning as the Republican Party’s presidential nominee, injuring him in the right ear. Crooks died at the scene.
At the time, the FBI said Crooks had searched online for multiple political events between April and July 2024. It also said he had searched not only Trump’s campaign schedule but also Joseph Robinette Biden Jr.’s campaign schedule and the schedules of the national conventions of both parties. The FBI concluded its investigation by determining that Crooks had acted alone and found no connection to the Democratic Party.
Trump did not say what the newly discovered information was in his post on the 15th. At a White House briefing that day, United States Attorney General Todd Blanche said the information Trump referred to consisted of “previously unknown facts about the shooter and his background and history.” Blanche said he had been at the scene during the assassination attempt and claimed, “It was unclear exactly what the FBI leadership was doing to protect Trump in the weeks and months before the assassination attempt. At the same time, that very organization was trying to put him in prison for the rest of his life.”
Blanche stressed, “Therefore, the president’s frustration and concerns about what the former FBI director, Wray, was doing are not new.” He stated, “FBI Director Kash Patel has made an extraordinary effort to comb through every document, determine whether anything was missed, and provide Americans with information that had not yet been disclosed—and he actually did it.”
