"A 15-minute procedure, but I woke up nine hours later": Woman charged 16.4 million won after sedation

[Financial News] A woman said she was victimized after a dermatology clinic in Seoul’s Gangnam district allegedly inflated her bill 11-fold following a procedure performed under sedation.
According to a JTBC report on the 15th, a woman in her 30s, identified only as Ms. A, visited a cosmetic dermatology clinic in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul, in July.
At around 4:30 p.m., she signed a consent form for procedures worth approximately 1.43 million won, including Botox injections and fat-dissolving shots. The procedures were simple and were expected to take about 15 minutes.
The clinic reportedly recommended that she sign up for a membership package involving additional costs, but Ms. A declined.
Ms. A then entered the procedure room. She did not wake up until 2 a.m., nine hours later.
But the shocking events did not end there.
Still disoriented, she returned home and checked the payment details for the procedure. She found that 16.4 million won had been charged—more than 11 times the approximately 1.4 million won she had originally expected to pay.
Ms. A requested and reviewed her medical records from the clinic.
The records listed 16 procedures, along with IV fluids, injections and cosmetics. They also included the sedatives propofol and midazolam.
When Ms. A protested, the clinic claimed, "We only did what she wanted," and responded, "What exactly are you so angry about?"
The clinic told reporters, "We obtained the customer’s consent for each procedure and carried them out safely at the clinic director’s discretion."
