“Kiss me”: Man in his 60s fires gas gun at face of woman he had just met after she refused

[Financial News] A man in his 60s who repeatedly fired a gas gun at the face of a woman he had just met because she refused physical contact was sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for two years.
According to Yonhap News Agency and other outlets on the 15th, the Incheon District Court sentenced a 64-year-old man, identified by his surname A, to one year in prison, suspended for two years, for violating the Act on the Safety Management of Guns, Swords, Explosives, etc., and for special assault.
The court also ordered A to complete 120 hours of community service and confiscated the gas gun he possessed.
A was indicted on charges of firing a gas gun eight times at the back of the head and face of a 34-year-old woman, identified as B, at a bar in Bupyeong, Incheon, at around 11 p.m. on January 27.
Investigators found that A had first met B at the establishment and was drinking with her after joining her table when he demanded physical contact, including saying, “Kiss me.” However, after B refused and informed the owner of the establishment, A became angry and committed the offense, investigators determined.
The investigation also found that A had previously purchased and kept the gas gun through an online shopping mall.
The court explained the reasons for the sentence, saying, “The defendant has not been forgiven by the victim and has several prior convictions for unrelated offenses.” It added, “However, we took into consideration that he has no prior convictions for the same type of offense and that the injuries suffered by the victim were not particularly serious.”
