Roots of K-Culture Found in Islands, Fields, and Mountains... Cheongwadae Sarangchae Special Exhibition

[Financial News] Experience the life and culture shaped by the islands, fields, and mountains of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Jeonbuk State, and Gangwon State in the heart of Seoul.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) on the 16th, a special exhibition titled 'Islands, Fields, and Mountains Rise Up' will be held on the first floor of Cheongwadae Sarangchae from today until December 31, in collaboration with the Regional Culture Promotion Agency.
Following the permanent exhibition 'Brilliant Colors: Regions Filled with K,' which opened on June 4, this exhibition explores the cultural roots of the three special autonomous provinces: Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Jeonbuk State, and Gangwon State. It highlights the impact of the topography and ecological environments of islands, fields, and mountains on the lives and culture of residents through photographs, videos, and artifacts, accompanied by performances and hands-on experiences.
Creators and curators active in each region participate directly in the exhibition. By viewing the exhibition, interpreted by local creators, alongside performances by local artists, one can observe the flow of everyday culture leading to contemporary creation.
The Jeju exhibition, starting on this day, features local brands such as the content group Jaeju Sanghoe, ODUJEJ, and Jaejudo Joa, as well as creators including Kim Seung-hwan and Park Hoon. Subsequently, content for Jeonbuk State will be added on October 14, and for Gangwon State on November 11.
Starting December 2, a comprehensive special exhibition featuring cultural resources from the three regions will be held, and exchange and dialogue programs for local officials and visitors will be operated. As content from each region is added sequentially, the scope of the exhibition will vary depending on the viewing period.
The 'Culture Day' regular performance takes place every Wednesday at 12:10 p.m. On the upcoming 19th, musician Chudahye will present a modern interpretation of the sentiments of prayer and comfort found in Jeju gut and shamanic songs at a special performance for the opening of the Jeju exhibition. The Jeju art group Maro will take the stage for the regular performance on the 30th.
Hands-on events utilizing traditional colors, crafts, and local cultural resources will also be organized. Detailed schedules and participation methods can be found on the Cheongwadae Sarangchae website and the 'Palsaechanran-Cheongwadae Sarangchae' Instagram.
A policy official from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) stated, "The lives and cultures cultivated by local people amidst the distinct natural environments of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Jeonbuk State, and Gangwon State have become the precious roots that form today's 'K-Culture'."
