From 'The Greatest Estate Developer' to Award-Winning Works by Young Creators, Meet Them at BICOF

[Financial News] The Greatest Estate Developer webtoon and award-winning works by 49 young creators will meet visitors at the Bucheon International Comics Festival. A commemorative exhibition will also look back on cosplay and the history of exchanges among cartoonists from around the world.
According to the Korea Manhwa Contents Agency on the 16th, the 29th Bucheon International Comics Festival will be held from the 18th to the 20th around the Korea Manhwa Museum in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province. Its theme is 'Comics and Webtoons Are Easy to Enjoy.' The theme captures both the approachable nature that makes comics and webtoons accessible to everyone and their potential, filled with fun and imagination.
The '2026 Bucheon Comics Awards Winners Exhibition' will showcase the grand-prize winner, The Greatest Estate Developer, as well as the Excellence in Comics Award winner, Penholder, and the Newcomer Comics Award winner, Osaka Loop Line.
The Greatest Estate Developer follows a civil engineering student who becomes possessed by a nobleman in a fantasy novel and rebuilds a fallen estate using modern civil engineering knowledge. The agency explained that the work received high praise for its distinctive artwork, dynamic direction, and adaptation tailored to the webtoon format.
The National Student Comics Contest Winners Exhibition will display works by 49 winners of the 27th contest, including the grand-prize winner of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award. The 'Our Neighborhood Comic Characters Showcase' will introduce characters incorporating Bucheon's local characteristics and stories.
The 10th-anniversary exhibition of the Gyeonggi International Cosplay Festival (GICOF) will look back on the festival's growth and memories created together by cosplayers and visitors from Korea and abroad. Events allowing visitors to participate directly will also be held.
The special exhibition 'Connection,' marking the 30th anniversary of the International Cartoonists Congress (ICC), will highlight exchanges among cartoonists worldwide through 16 works submitted from eight regions.
While the award-winning works exhibition demonstrates the expressive range and quality of comics, the local-character exhibition presents examples of comics being used as a tool to convey local stories. Adding the cosplay commemorative exhibition broadens the focus from appreciating creative works to a culture in which visitors can enjoy and participate.
Baek Jong-hoon, president of the Korea Manhwa Contents Agency, said, "The festival has been organized so visitors can experience the present and future of comics and webtoons together." He added, "I hope visitors can enjoy the profound inspiration and messages conveyed by comics and webtoons by coming to the festival."
