[Financial News] The Seoul City Bus Labor Union will begin a strike, suspending operations from the first bus service at dawn on the 16th.
The labor and management of Seoul city buses held a second mediation meeting on the labor dispute at the Seoul Regional Labor Relations Commission in Yeongdeungpo District starting at 2 p.m. that day.
However, they failed to reach an agreement after eight hours of mediation, and the mediation finally broke down at around 10 p.m.
The union plans to launch a general strike as scheduled at 4 a.m. on the 16th.
In Seoul, approximately 7,000 city buses have been operating on about 390 routes operated by 64 companies.
In response to the strike, the Seoul Metropolitan Government will implement emergency transportation measures, including deploying up to 1,500 free shuttle buses (chartered buses) to and from subway stations and increasing subway service during rush hours.
